Beyond Seeking

Many of us are drawn to seek a deeper meaning for our existence, to find a higher purpose for the things that happen.  In this world we witness an infinite number of choices and outcomes, from the most dismal acts of inhumanity to the very highest expressions of human goodness.  Circumstances can feel quite random at times.  We wonder why things happen as they do, and why we are here now in the enormous complexity of being human.

Like many others, I’ve spent decades seeking - in meditation, in therapy, in clairvoyant training, in teaching, and in contemplating the perspectives of others.  Finding my truth has been a long, winding road indeed.  Reality is enormously complicated and infinitely nuanced.

It is said that we don’t find truth, we remember it.  Every time I remember that I Am Love it fills my awareness, and it feels impossible that I could ever forget.  But I do, usually within a few minutes.  I get busy managing my life’s stuff, always trying to get it right

It’s so easy to forget in all of life’s demands my own good intentions, my loving heart, and the perfection of this path that my soul has chosen.  Amid the noise I forget that I am already what I seek, that all that happens is done in the name of love, and that I could never get life wrong.  On a soul level the seeking is unnecessary, but in this human form it helps me find myself again and again.

More often now I choose to pull my attention back from worry or doubt and simply allow Truth to be present in whatever I’m in the middle of.  I stop, take a few deep breaths, and feel myself soften.  It’s a form of surrender, and of saying yes to what is.  I allow everything in my experience to be an expression of Divine Love, and it is.  There’s no need to struggle to get back to Truth because we have never left it.  All we need do is stop, breathe, and allow.

What do you do when you feel disconnected from truth?  I’d love to hear from you.

May you know the Truth that you are, and may this tool be a blessing.

The Light That Never Leaves

Hello dear friends--

How can we trust that there is a light of Divine Wisdom and purpose underlying everything that happens in this life?  There are times when trusting that light comes easily, maybe on days when I haven't scanned the headlines on my computer, when I'm not worrying about anything, and when I feel like who I am in the world is enough to manage whatever comes.

It's much harder to hold on to trust when our open hearts close down, shaken by the reality of a world that can feel entirely broken and unacceptable.  The loud voices of fear override the quiet voice of the soul.  This happens most noticeably in the middle of the  night, when my defenses are down.

I've realized that fear will always be here.  It's part of our curriculum in these physical bodies that are the perfect vehicles for our souls' evolution.  Fear is a difficult part of our experience, to be sure, but it always exists within and as a part of the light.  Fear serves a holy purpose, which is another important topic I'd like to explore in a future post.

The very first spiritual book I read was Emmanuel's Book by Pat Rodegast, which very generously set me on my path over three decades ago.  I remember Emmanuel suggesting that "the challenge is to sit in the darkness and believe in the light."  Yes and yes!

When I'm reeling from life's painful things and the fear is loud, I remind myself that I can believe in the light, I can trust the light, even when it feels far away.   I remember that I can stay right here where I know light is, even though I can't touch the light right now.  That choice to own the light, the Divine Wisdom underlying everything, while in the midst of fear is probably the most creative, powerful choice that we can ever make.

I would love to hear about the strategies you turn to for connecting with Divine Wisdom and your soul's truth.  Thanks for being here.

Many blessings,

Sherry
